Navigating the Eastern Scheldt and North Sea<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

During our pleasure sailing trips on the Oosterschelde and the North Sea we mainly use the tablet for navigation. With the OpenCPN program we always have up-to-date maps at hand. This program, in combination with the free availability of NLTides, enables us to view water levels and currents directly on the tablet. This means we do not have to purchase expensive maps and programs every year. After the one-time purchase of the tablet, all necessary data is available free of charge. This not only means less cost, but also that we are always up to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since using this tablet on board, we have experienced some significant advantages. First, the tablet consumes very little power, which is a big advantage given our reliance on batteries on the sailboat. This is crucial during longer trips where we need to conserve energy. In addition, the tablet is very flexible in use. Unlike most official recreational navigation systems, the tablet is easily portable. This means that we can use it both inside at the navigation table and outside while driving the ship. This mobility is indispensable, especially in changing weather conditions. The ruggedness of the tablet is another big plus. We don’t have to worry about it sliding off the navigation table when the ship is inclined. Moreover, the tablet is (splash) waterproof. Even during a rainstorm or when tube water enters the cockpit, we can consult it safely. This gives us great confidence in the reliability of the device under various conditions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
